My A-Level sketchbook pages from my 'Identity' project. I wanted to explore how the environments we surround ourselves in help to form who we are as people. The above pages show how: Shoes, Artists, School and where we choose to 'hang out' impact us.
Within my art studies, I explored how different materials could change the mood of an art piece, I kept this in mind across all my projects. Above are my explorations.
Materials: Multi-pen (red), Pencil, Biro, Charcoal, Acrylic Paint
In between my studies I decided to explore digital art. I had previously only used traditional media.
The first piece is a self portrait, the next is one of my original characters, on the far right is a work in progress where I am exploring clothing.
The pieces Above are environmental practices. Where I am working towards making a scene feel ‘lived in’. I focused mainly on using colour to establish a mood, such as whimsy on the left and intensity on the right.
A key part of my investigation into identity was shoes, more specifically, how what we wear is a reflection of who we are as people. The first piece is a shoe I created from cardboard, the next is a collage made to resemble a shoe, the final is an acrylic painting.
